Check out this video for &#8220;American African&#8221; (which sounds and looks neither African or American for that matter) in order to satiate your WLS needs and of course, be on the lookout for the <span style="font-style: italic;">Thinks and Feels</span> LP out August 19th.<br /><a href="http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&amp;videoid=2608534">American African</a><br /><object height="360" width="425"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="movie" value="http://mediaservices.myspace.com/services/media/embed.aspx/m=2608534,t=1,mt=video"><embed src="http://mediaservices.myspace.com/services/media/embed.aspx/m=2608534,t=1,mt=video" allowfullscreen="true" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" height="360" width="425"></embed></object>********************************************************************<br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">NEW BAND CHEER: TAT </span><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_W0X4wlpSmzg/SHIR9DKUWxI/AAAAAAAAA8c/-6YWdoVkMB8/s1600-h/l_99f064b47923ee190f1e6a0de2a67703.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_W0X4wlpSmzg/SHIR9DKUWxI/AAAAAAAAA8c/-6YWdoVkMB8/s400/l_99f064b47923ee190f1e6a0de2a67703.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5220254658594102034" border="0" /></a>A female-fronted trio from the UK that draws cursory comparisons to a British Distillers (one of my favorite acts of all time by the way) <a href="http://www.myspace.com/tat">TAT</a> whips up a brand of thoughtful rock with a more post-modernist slant than most punk acts. With tracks like &#8220;Champagne, Cocaine, and Strawberries&#8221;, TAT are clearly an act both living the rock dream of excess while at the same time commenting on its nihilism. With a three-chord assault and pop aesthetics reminiscent of acts like Rancid, TAT are far too good a band to be mucking around on the Warped Tour. Alas, that&#8217;s with whom the band are currently touring, though afterwards they plan a nationwide jaunt spanning coast to coast. Check out their EPK video for a great introduction to the band and their justifiably rabid fanbase and watch for their debut album which drops at the end of the summer!<br /><object height="344" width="425"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/erLngcOM5gM&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/erLngcOM5gM&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" height="344" width="425"></embed></object><br />Also, as the title suggests, this is my 100th Cannibal Cheerleader post! Thanks to all the readers! Comments people?</p>

A collection of some of the best dream-pop in ages, <a href="http://www.beachhousemusic.net/">Beach House</a> is really coming into their own and <span style="font-style:italic;">Devotion</span> remains one of our favorite releases of the year. </p>
<p>Recently the band traveled through Norway by train and were apparently asked by a Norwegian film crew if they would write a song impromptu for the trip. What the film crew captured was an inspired, transcendent sing-a-long worthy of inclusion on their next, sure to be excellent LP. Check it out, straight from <a href="http://stereogum.com/archives/video/beach-house-write-a-song-on-a-norwegian-train_010092.html">Stereogum</a>:<br /><a href="http://stereogum.com/archives/video/beach-house-write-a-song-on-a-norwegian-train_010092.html#more">Stereogum</a> comes this report of a video done by a Norwegian film crew following the band as they rode a train through the country. What follows is a transcendent little singalong that you can check here:<br /><embed src="http://services.brightcove.com/services/viewer/federated_f8/376819422" bgcolor="#FFFFFF" flashVars="videoId=1576332825&#038;playerId=376819422&#038;viewerSecureGatewayURL=https://services.brightcove.com/services/amfgateway&#038;servicesURL=http://services.brightcove.com/services&#038;cdnURL=http://admin.brightcove.com&#038;domain=embed&#038;autoStart=false&#038;" base="http://admin.brightcove.com" name="flashObj" width="486" height="412" seamlesstabbing="false" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" swLiveConnect="true" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash"></embed><a href="https://webspace.utexas.edu/jb3432/MP3s/01%20Wedding%20Bell.mp3?uniq=iao8jj">Beach House &#8211; &#8220;Wedding Bell&#8221; (from the Devotion LP)<br /></a><br />********************************************************************<br /><span style="font-weight:bold;">NEW BAND CHEER &#8211; THE ROLLER<br /></span><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_W0X4wlpSmzg/SD-6SwM0G1I/AAAAAAAAAlU/gGnbRNvmbCo/s1600-h/l_8f25cc027f6058409979731d0efe404f.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_W0X4wlpSmzg/SD-6SwM0G1I/AAAAAAAAAlU/gGnbRNvmbCo/s400/l_8f25cc027f6058409979731d0efe404f.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5206084525602642770" /></a><br />Austin, Texas&#8217; own black-metal act <a href="http://www.myspace.com/gloomaxe">The Roller</a> have just come onto the Cannibal Cheerleader radar and we&#8217;re sorry we didn&#8217;t know about these guys earlier. With a dirgey, brutal delivery and instrumental experimentalism both reminiscent of bands like Wolves in the Throne Room, true Norwegian darkness has finally landed in Texas. Check out this tune and swing by their <a href="http://www.myspace.com/gloomaxe">Myspace</a>. </p>

The inaugural flick is <a href="http://www.thestrangers.net/"><span style="font-style:italic;">The Strangers</span></a>, starring Liv Tyler, seems like a blast from a suspenseful past. Check the trailer.<br /><object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/wY_1911aUUw&#038;hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/wY_1911aUUw&#038;hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object><br />Promises to have a low body-count but will undoubtedly have some wicked scares to make up for it. Reminiscent of my favorite movie of &#8216;08 thus far, <a href="http://wip.warnerbros.com/funnygames/"><span style="font-style:italic;">Funny Games</span></a>, in that it seems obsessed with how Americans no longer feel safe in their own homes, trapped in the prison of suburbia. On Monday I&#8217;ll post up a review!<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_W0X4wlpSmzg/SD-6TAM0G4I/AAAAAAAAAls/_UBwuarmgAE/s1600-h/meatmarket-foot.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_W0X4wlpSmzg/SD-6TAM0G4I/AAAAAAAAAls/_UBwuarmgAE/s400/meatmarket-foot.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5206084529897610114" /></a><br />Sorry to have skipped Terror Thursday for the past few weeks, and sorry for the small update yesterday. Comment folks and see you next week!</p>
