These stripped down tales of loneliness (when you’re alone) and boredom (when you’re together) perfectly capture the essence of the group and highlights the strong lyrical content that truly elevates this group from all the indie-rock collective, eight-plus member bands. Songs such as “Straight In At 101/It’s Never Enough” stand among the greatest LC! has ever recorded and floats propelled by the power of the haunting, plucky instrumentation and Gareth Campesinos’ plaintive Cardiff drawl. Highly recommended, as are all the LC! recordings, pick it up immediately!

With all the big band adventurism of groups like Arcade Fire, the noodling experimentalism of Why?, and the indie-championing of Ra Ra Riot, Los Campesinos! are the newest in 2008s long line of indie rock saviors, bringing the charm of bands like Pavement and Pixies back to the forefront with a steady mixture of pop sensibilities and punk ethos. Hailing from the UK and armed with a bizarre but subtly heart-warming palette of unique instrumentation, shout-along choruses, and twisting, thought-provoking lyrics, LC! is attacking the end of ‘08 with a vengeance. The band’s got two releases out so far this year with no signs of slowing down for 2009, so lookout world, here they come, give a listen below!
