THE MOUNTAIN GOATS TROT THROUGH AUSTIN
According to this Pitchfork article our friend John Darnielle of the Mountain Goats fame will be swinging through Austin on November 1st at Antone’s on his upcoming fall tour in support of the excellent Heretic Pride. You know that we’ll be there with bells on, but until then, listen to this fantastic track and despair you’re not watching him live right now.

One of the first artists to throw their hat into the ‘best of 2008′ club has to be John Darnielle and his Mountain Goats with their newest LP Heretic Pride, a record of literary folk-rock obsessed with b-movie horror cliches mixed seamlessly with discussions on life and death. Perfect for a blog called Cannibal Cheerleader.

Lastly if you know me at all, you know one of my most hyped artists has to be Crystal Castles, whose brand of electro thrash (thrash, thrash, or so says the band’s Myspace) is definitely heads and shoulders over most anything else in electronic music these days. Their new self-titled album comes out March 18th on Last Gang Records and while I try not to see any shows outside of Austin in protest of artists not coming to the music capital of the world, their Mar. 16th show in Denton might just be worth a visit. Definitely check these guys out.
