I was in line at the show, and CC came out (minus Alice- who we never saw) and told us about the sound system complaint. Problem was, they never apologized to anyone, whatsoever. They just hung around waiting for the crew to finish loading equipment. They left the dirty work up to Granada, and to quote their doorman, "I'm the most hated guy out here right now." If it's any cold comfort doorman- read these comments: Crystal Castles had/has that title.

Granada's already refunded the tickets and made the free ticket offer- what did CC do?

So lets take a second to look back at this bands history. They have canceled shows before and have made their fans go home without any music.

So last night is just another example of why you SHOULD NOT support this band. Being in a band it seems like these days means you can put up a computer, loop some beats, and use pro tools to hide the lack of music ability you have. The popular music of today has no soul, no true love for the spirit of music. Which goes back to this band who canceled a sold out show, a SOLD OUT SHOW that tons of bands would kill to have.

Bands like Crystal Castles have no respect for music and no respect for others.

Knowing the venue and everyone who works there the show was in NO WAY CANCELED BY GRANADA THEATER.

GRANADA THEATER, was open and ready to rock just like they always are, they were ready to serve you with a friendly smile, good vibes and feel good time.

I mean lets stop to think about this why would a venue cancel after they have already opened? Venues don't cancel! They have to much money already spend to cancel. Like paying the promoters, paying people to make fliers and poster, paying the staff, even something as small as turning on the electricity in a place with that much space and sound/lighting equipment. It doesnt take that much common sense to figure out that when a show is canceled ITS BC OF THE BAND.

Lets just say Crystal Castles will be lucky to get a show anywhere in Dallas and the surrounding areas after this stunt.

Making your fans stand outside in the streets huddle next to each other and waiting for a show because they are sound checking for 8 hours, yes kids 8 hours and still producing nothing but the walk of shame is ridiculous and unprofessional.

If you decide to keep supporting this band, I pray that one day you will find good taste in people who dont suck at life.

as an actual "sound man" I suspect the reality is somewhere in the middle. Electronic "musicians" and I use the term lightly..are notorious for misusing electronic keyboards for effect. Nothing wrong with that..but the levels that come off this equipment and purity of sounds created artificially, can and do destroy sound systems if great care is not used, no matter the size. It's not about perceived volume..it's how much continuous energy is hitting the amplifiers and where the spikes in the audio material are. A limiter is usually placed on the mains so you cannot peak past a certain level. IF the artist continues to try to push the level beyond that point..the system will reduce the audio level automatically, effectively squashing the sound and therefore making the kick drum "sound like shit" in this instance due to over compression. The owner of the club had every right to protect his equipment from abuse on the DJ's part, and the group should learn to stop acting like people in production are somehow their stern parents or enemies. Grow up. There was more than enough system for that room. YOU bailed in a hissy fit 1000 of your fans who actually appreciate beep and blurp nonsense. To the people at the venue..it's another show they want to be successful..both for you and them. Get some perspective or you will quickly go nowhere.

Speaking as someone who was at the Zakk Wylde/BLS show, there is no way this band could have blown the sound system based on the shit on their myspace.

Totally agree with it having the best sound system in Dallas, will be there tomorrow night for Amon Amarth.

I am a venue manager for the Granada Theater, and have worked here for going on 5 years.

Our sound system is awesome.

Zakk Wylde has played it. Obituary has played it. Both System of a Down and Serj Tankian have played it.

There's nothing Crystal Castles could possibly do to hurt our system.

Get real.

Details on ticket refunds should be up on the venue's webiste sometime shortly, according to the Granada owner.

As for the he said/he said on last night's cancellation, I'm glad I wasn't there.

I can, just like a few other posters here, attest to the quality of sound at the venue: its pretty good.

I've seen just about any and every type of music in that venue and its never been a problem. Bands play loud in there and bands play quiet in there.

Our local weekly, The Dallas Observer, posted the owner's response to the cancellation.

The short of it is that CC refused to enter the venue while the opener was there. The opener was accused of stealing a pedal from them the night before in Austin.

They sound checked 2hrs late and weren't satisfied with the sound of their KICK DRUM.

They didn't let the venue know they were cancelling until 10pm, while 1000+ people were inside.

We all like our musicians with a bit of an attitude and edge. However, treating fans with such disregard isn't a quality any of us appreciate.

These little shits need to remember how they got to the point they are at and adjust their attitudes or they won't be going much further.

Lets see where they're at in a year.
